Hello, two more from Spain. These were issued in 1971 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of airmail services. (Scott 1694 – 1695). I am not into “modern” stamps as perhaps you know but these are ok I think 😊 but don’t have the finesse of the designs of the earlier issues. Well that is my thinking.

I tried to find a concise history of early Spanish airmail services but failed. It seems the first international airmail service was between France and Spain in 1918 and in 1919 or maybe 1920 routes within Spain were opened. Not sure how 1971 became the 50th anniversary though!

I welcome any references readers might know and can share.
So what next? I am gain looking for another country or theme. Write to me at cddstamps@gmail.com if you have any ideas.
