Hello, sorry not written for ages. Hope this finds all my readers well and that you enjoy seeing this cover. issued to commemorate the 1952 BOAC First Flight between London and Johannesburg.  In fact this was the  world’s first ever jet service from London to Johannesburg.

The aircraft was the Comet G-ALYP  and carried 36 passengers. The total journey of nearly 7,000 miles took 23 hours 40 minutes, allowing for five stops at Rome, Beirut, Khartoum, Entebbe and Livingstone, compared to the regular piston engined Hermes planes which took about 28 hours.

As you can see from the reverse this cover was back-stamped in Entebbe

Best wishes.. Michael
